Phones (Pros and Cons)

Phones (Pros and Cons) Phones have started to become a really big part of our lives and have influenced us in many ways. People have been creating phones since the early 2000s and have been trying to create the best possible feature combinations to our benefit. There are many different phone brands and software people use but they all end up doing the same job in the end. Just like many other things - phones have pros and cons.  Phones have helped our lives for the better and have made many things much easier than they used to be. My parents used to chat with me and inform me about how life used to be without them and from what I hear - it has gotten easier. Some pros are communication, knowledge, and entertainment. Having phones means anybody can reach you anywhere at any time which makes it easier for people to communicate with one another. This also means being able to connect with people in a different country or even continent. Phones also have Google or Safari which is...

School Safety

School Safety Every young person in this country has to attend the three mandatory levels of education. These levels include elementary, middle, and high school. Children and teenagers are attending these schools in the hopes of learning the next steps and preparing for adulthood. This can be difficult when kids don’t feel safe at their school. Bullying is the most common form of violence kids receive at school. This interaction between students is often caused when someone stronger or bigger teases the smaller individual. This is a very harmful thing to the individual and can impact their mental health. Bullying mostly happens in middle and high school. It occurs in these two levels the most since this is the time kids and teenagers are starting the journey of what kind of adults they are going to become in the future. Bullying is not being taken seriously in schools regardless of the damage it causes to the students. Teachers need to be more cautious and observant while walking...

Public Transportation

Public Transat Public transport is a very important and crucial part of our city. Thousands of people use things like buses, subways, trains, and many more to get to their final destination. Regarding the importance of the matter - there have been many issues with our system. TTC workers are verbally and physically harassed on a daily as well as people mistreating the bus stops and stations. There’s a lot of room for improvement in our TTC system. TTC workers usually work long hours with no to very little break throughout the week. The staff or the drivers are tired and want no misbehavior or arguments in their vehicle - which isn’t always the case. Many drivers as well as the staff on these vehicles tend to be verbally harassed by the passengers and sometimes even physically abused. This is unacceptable behavior and is an event no person should be familiar with.  Subway stations tend to be the filthiest stations among the rest. This is because they are mostly underground an...

Homelessness

Homelessness Homelessness occurs in every part of the world and is an ongoing issue in many cities today - just like Toronto. Toronto’s homeless population has been rapidly increasing every day which causes the problem to grow. The issue has gotten out of hand in our city and has become extremely difficult to manage. We need to take action into our own hands and take responsibility for the wellness of our city. Have you ever wondered why people become homeless? What brings people into a certain amount of desperation to do certain things? Have you ever questioned yourself about what you- as an individual - can do to help the less fortunate? These are the questions you should consider when discussing topics such as these. There are many ways people or life events can lead to homelessness. The most common reason tends to be affordability. This can mean people cannot afford to pay their rent, lose their jobs, or have been evicted from their residences. Housing prices have been rapidly...

Animal Abuse

Animals Abuse Animals are part of our daily interactions. Most animals are considered to be part of people's lives as well as families while others suffer from mental as well as physical abuse to accommodate our own needs today. Various types of animals have been in the labs as early as 500 BC and have been experimented on them for decades. We - as humans - have been harming animals for our own benefit without a care of what they have to go through. When will this end? Drug testing is one of the most dangerous ways an animal can be abused. These tests began in the early 19th century in ancient Greece. Even though it looked very different in ancient Greece than it does now, it is very similar. Animals are placed in cages, in labs while scientists perform experiments and research based on their reactions. The doctors, as well as the scientists inject viruses and diseases such as cancer, diabetes, or new vaccine shots and observe the animal's reaction to these certain drugs. The m...
